On The Strange And Odd Side

Gardening? Consider this:
Knowledge is knowing that tomatoes are fruits.
Wisdom is knowing not to put tomatoes in fruit salads.

You can’t make this up:
Police said “Man dies after blowing up condom machine. BERLIN A man died on Christmas Day in Germany after he was hit in the head by a flying piece of metal from a condom machine that he and two accomplices blew up in a robbery attempt.”

No Tuna for me:
A 200kg(440 pound) bluefin tuna sold for 14 million yen ($117,706 USD) at the first auction of the year at Tokyo’s Tsukiji Fish Market.
Kiyoshi Kimura, of Kiyomura Corp which owns a chain of sushi restaurants, won the first bid for the fish caught off Japan’s Oma coast in Aomori prefecture. The price is higher than Kimura’s bid last year which was also successful was 4.51 million yen but lower than the 155 million yen Kiyomura Corp paid for a bluefin tuna in 2013.

American Technology:
America’s aerospace industry is in the toilet.
Lockheed Martin Corp and Boeing Co said it had ordered a total of 49 more Russian made RD-180 rocket engines.
ULA said it would use the Russian engines on its Atlas 5 rockets to serve existing and potential civil and commercial launch customers until a new U.S. built engine was developed and certified.

  1. Earlier incarnations of those Russian RD-180 rocket engines have been in use on old workhorse Soyuz rockets since the Soviet era. Come to think of it, so have the Soyuz rockets.
