Don’t Kiss That Chick…..en – You Can’t make This Stuff Up!

Source CDC: Don’t kiss your pet chicken

Big Smile, Just how many people do you know that gives a big old kiss to a chicken, turkey duck or goose?

Use a bit of common sense, wash your hands after handling poultry. Hehehe, wash you mouth out with soap after kissing said birds!…….

Center for Disease Control(CDC) put out a warning asking chicken owners not to snuggle or kiss their birds for fear of contracting salmonella.

Dr. Robert Glatter said “Chickens actually have salmonella naturally and they don’t get sick from it, but humans do, and the main symptoms are diarrhea, fever and abdominal pain.”

  1. … gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘chicken lips’ — not to mention the imagery!

  2. Haha. Seriously, I can see why the CDC puts out this warning because there are people who snuggle and kiss their chickens. We like our chickens but the moment they quit laying eggs… well, they are going to a nice old lady who takes in “used” chickens. Definitely would not want to kiss one. Gross 🙂

  3. Oh my has the dumbing down of our culture really become that bad that we have to tell people not to kiss chickens. I mean! I thought I was bad talking to the robins and sparrows in the yard. Cute post!!

  5. My chicken kissing is limited to that period of time after which the chicken has been properly fried, golden brown, crispy skin and accompanied by an ear of boiled sweet corn.! 🙂
