I am always amazed at how quickly geese and ducks can turn a 50 pound bag of corn into 60 pounds of manure. I don’t know how they can have more coming out than going in. I think goose and ducks manure making ability should be listed as one of the seven wonders of the world. Grinning..

It makes wonderful garden fertilized, however, if added straight from the goose, ‘not composted’, use it sparingly and tilled well into your garden soil. It’s ‘hot’ has a high nitrogen content and will burn the roots of your plants or produce great looking foliage with little or no fruit set. The same rule applies when using raw chicken manure.

I have had almost a week of 40% nights and 70% days, Eeek, got up this morning and it is 28%. I’m really happy my spring garden madness did not drive me to plant my tomato’s. iGarden , find your last frost date. I know from many years of experience not to plant warm weather crops before the 15th of April, but, when it 80% in the garden it’s difficult not to give into my spring time garden madness to plant, plant and plant some more.

This former wheat field is really tight, heavy clay soil and is severely lacking in organic matter. Tilling my garden plot is a bit like trying to till a city sidewalk! I have tilled the entire plot three times now and it still needs to be tilled two or three more times before planting time arrives.

It will soon be time to mow short the North pasture allowing the new, tender grass to come forth providing enough grass for Michelle’s steers and donkey’s and Ronny’s long horn bull ample spring and summer pasture.
